After a summer of speculation, it’s finally official: gender-bending icon Harry Styles is launching a new beauty brand called Pleasing.

Trendmood broke the news on Sunday, revealing that the first launch will include a line of nail products and two skincare products. All products are available for pre-order now, with the official launch date set for November 29.

Pleasing’s products

Harry has been wearing nail polish on stage and on red carpets for years, so it’s no surprise to see nail products included in this first drop. The nail products included in this first launch are The Perfect Polish Set ($65), which features shades Inky Pearl, Perfect Pearl, Granny’s Pink Pearls, and Pearly Tops. Perfect Pearl and Pearly Tops are available separately or within the full set.

The polishes are a mix of matte and glossy finishes and are meant to be applied over or under other shades to create your own nail look. All formulations are biodegradable, vegan, cruelty-free, and 12-free, meaning they’re made without toluene, formaldehyde, and camphor, among other toxins. Alongside the four polishes, the set will also include three packs of alphabetical decals to customize your look.

The packaging is mega-chic, with a vintage-inspired marbled globe-shaped applicator cap. The round cap can removed to reveal a narrower handle underneath, for anyone that prefers a more traditional and precise applicator tip. Props to Harry for making a nail polish that’s both chic AND functional.

“Housed in collectible glass bottles mirroring perfume decanters of the past, our Nail Polishes for Perfect Pearl are inspired by the pearl within the oyster,” says the brand on Instagram.

Pleasing’s first launch also includes two skincare products: The Pearlescent Illuminating Serum ($35) and The Pleasing Pen ($30). The Pearlescent Illuminating Serum contains unique pearl capsules that dissolve into a transparent, glossy formula once the product is pumped out of the clear glass bottle. The formula is a mix of vitamin B5, beta-glucan, antioxidants, and amino acids. The pearls are created with a lab-safe mica, which leaves a subtle glow on the skin.

According to Harry, the serum was inspired by the beauty of female Japanese divers.

“[They] collected pearls for Morimoto with no gear, just a net. Their skin looks so fresh, shining in the sun and I wanted a product that would give that feeling,” he said in a press release. “The serum brightens skin over time but it also immediately smoothes out the appearance of your skin, like you’ve just come from the cold ocean.”

The Pleasing Pen is a double-sided eye gel and lip oil – an industry first, as far as we can tell. The eye gel is formulated with natural lingonberry, okra, and hyaluronic salt to refresh and awaken tired under eyes. The demi-matte lip oil contains marshmallow extract and olive-oil-derived squalane for soothing hydration.

Harry Styles on creating a beauty brand

The pop star isn’t afraid to push the boundaries of what society considers to be an acceptable expression of gender, fashion, and beauty.

“When we decided Pleasing would make beauty products I wanted to be sure they were something I would use. I didn’t want to make products to mask people, I wanted to highlight them and make them feel beautiful,” Harry said in a press release.

In an interview with Dazed on how Pleasing came into existence, Harry explains the inspiration behind the products for Pleasing.

“It’s starting with nail polish because that was kind of the birth of what it was for. Me seeing a color on a flower or a wallpaper or something and thinking, ‘Oh, I wanna put that on my nails.’ It was a fun little project, but during the pandemic, and when we eventually named it Pleasing, it felt like it was so much more than nail polish,” Harry told Dazed.

At first glance, this seems to be a very thoughtful collection that feels true to Harry’s gender-bending brand. The nail polish bottles are seriously stunning on their own, and we can expect that a nail polish snob like Harry would only sign off on a formulation that’s long-lasting and goes on smooth. The dual-ended pen shows innovative thinking on Harry’s part, and the highlight serum with skin benefits looks promising.

All products are available for pre-order now and launching on pleasing.com on November 29, although knowing Harry’s wildly obsessed fan base, we expect these products to sell out FAST. Get ‘em before they’re gone.
