I think most people can relate to this, but I can’t remember the last time I had a full face beat.

With everything that we’ve been through since last March, going big in 2021 is the move. We’ve been in sweats and sans makeup for over a year now and it’s time to be extra again! Trends may come and go, but seeing as we were starved for fashion and cute lewks last year, you know this year we’re going to go extra hard. I know we’ve all seen the memes of people popping off after the pandemic is over.

Maybe you’re wanting to try something new, especially if you haven’t tried anything new since the year that will not be named. Think about it…a full face beat to the grocery store, an eye look that makes your Starbucks barista gaze into them for hours, a winged liner so sharp you’d get a paper cut. As the world is slowly going back to some sort of normal, the options to step out with fierce makeup looks are endless.

If you’re into trying new things or just over not getting ready, check out these five trends we predict are going to pop off in 2021.

Colored Mascara

This trend is probably my favorite – it’s just too easy not to love. You can go bare-faced and put on blue mascara and you’ll receive compliments all day. If colored mascara seems like a little too much, try a pop of color on just your lower lashes for a more subtle slay. For lighter eyes or blondes, try pastel colors. For brunettes or darker eyes, try deeper tones or muted colors.

SEPHORA COLLECTION Volume ON Mascara, $10

Lip liner

We’re seeing chocolatey brown lip liner channeling ‘90s Naomi Campbell on the runways. This is a trend that’s actually timeless, as it works on any lip shape and is great for deeper skin tones. Start out with light pressure around the top and bottom corners of your lips. If you want, you can finish off the look with lip gloss for a real ‘90s look.

NYX Professional Makeup Slim Lip Pencil, $4

Monochrome Eyeshadow

This is another easy trend on the list. If you’re the type that doesn’t have the patience to blend your makeup, this is definitely for you. Remember ‘80s movies and blue eyeshadow? Trust me, this isn’t the same thing. I’ve tried this trend out and my favorite shade is metallic pink paired with pink mascara. Too much? Absolutely not. Remember, we’re being extra this year.

ColorPop Cosmetics Fade Into Hue Eyeshadow Palette, $34

80’s makeup

Think mod, technicolor pastel eye looks, and bold lips. Bright pinks, blues, and greens are the colors you’ll see trending. When it comes to the ‘80s look, the bolder the better. That means there’s no need to choose between a bold eye or a bold lip, you can do both. You can even go bold with your blush – the more blush, the fiercer your cheeks will look.

FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color, $25

Mullets

If you haven’t seen the mullet trend around, then you probably live in a secluded cabin in the middle of nowhere (which honestly sounds so nice). Celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Rihanna have been seen rocking the business in the front and party in the back. Before the mullet, there was the ‘70s shag haircut. I think especially now we’re all in the mood to jump through the decades. If you’re feeling like making a big change, a mullet is so the vibes.
