My cystic acne hates Drunk Elephant

The other day I purchased what the Internet dubbed as the miracle serum that shrinks cystic acne overnight. It’s cool and all except … it didn’t work.

For $55 and a small bottle, I used it frequently this past month as I seemed to have frustrating flair ups every other day. And after using 3/4 of the bottle, I can confidently say it didn’t absolutely nothing except burn a big hole in my wallet.  More on that in a future post later next week.

While that serum didn’t work, another product I used zapped my cystic acne, seemingly destroying them overnight. It’s Drunk Elephant’s T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. It worked immediately. Here’s my honest Drunk Elephant’s T.L.C. review.

The serum comes in a really cute neon pink bottle that swivels when you turn it to the right and feels exactly like a Rubik’s Cube in the process. But don’t let the cutesy exterior fool you – this thing is made to kill your cystic acne, while leaving you with a smooth layer of skin. The serum is clear and sticky and I used it on top of my toner-slathered face.

When I woke up the next morning, my face was less red, less angry and my cystic acne flairs were half the size. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS. I blinked again and looked more closely at my skin. The quarter-sized awful acne bumps were now the size of a dime. I didn’t believe that the product really worked until I repeated this for the next four days until the cystic acne bumps all but disappeared.

So how is it that this product works so well? For starters, it’s an AHA (alpha hydroxyacid) and BHA (beta hydroxyacid). More specifically, Drunk Elephant’s T.L.C. Framboos, has everything cystic acne is afraid of. This includes 12% glycolic acid, which dissolves dead skin cells, lactic, tartaric, citric along with a salicylic acid that unclogs oil.

While I’ve been suffering for weeks on end getting rid of these things without going to the dermatologist, I now know that this one product actually works. It’s a little (okay, A LOT) pricey, at $90. But it’s saving me time (and money!!!) from going to see my dermatologist.

Goodbye, cystic acne. You lose.
